Daily Guide Devotional: Crucified and Alive in Christ
Text: Galatians 2:11-21
What a glorious truth is ours: crucified, yet alive. Alive in him who creates and recreates. Alive in him who makes all things new. Alive unto God who made it possible. This is the mystery about us that the world cannot understand. We are dead, yet alive. Jesus is the reigning king and we are so blessed to have him reigning in our lives. We no longer live the life of the world, the life of the natural man; we live in him and move in him and have our being in him. This is the reality of every believer. This is what sets us apart. And this is the mystery of being born again. Our old life has ended. It was terminated. But instead of us to drop dead, we became new beings resurrected in newness of life in Christ.
Paul had to be audacious to speak up. He needed boldness and wisdom to correct the error that even a senior disciple like Peter was living. I thank God for his holy spirit still living in the hearts of those totally committed to him even today, steadfastly correcting error and reproving wrong teachings. We are witnesses to a lot of ills which have also crept into our churches today. Many preachers brought back the law through what looked like holiness preaching by prescribing different things and making them compulsory on believers when such does not add anything to their spiritual growth.
The law as we have seen earlier is good because God made it so. But in the light of present dispensation and God's plan of salvation, it is already obsolete. Impetuous Peter could be likened to some of us who do not yet have a firm grasp of what the bible teaches so we keep changing churches or pastors or fellowship groups. The real teaching of the word of God is by revelation and this comes to us individually as we go into our closets to seek the lord in private. Paul received the authentic teaching from Jesus. With his total and superior knowledge of the law he could easily understand how everything prescribed in the law was fulfilled in Jesus. Jesus is our life. There is no life anywhere else for a child of God. Allow him today and always to live in you by simply yielding to his leading through the indwelling holy spirit. God bless you.
