DAILY GUIDE DEVOTIONAL: Dealing with Sin in the Church

Text: 2 Corinthians 13: 1-13

It was a heart warming conclusion to the thirteen chapter epistle. Paul overcame his detractors and put them in their place. He is a leader with integrity worthy of emulation. He didn't allow the so called eminent apostles to intimidate him with their worldly affiliations and craftiness rather he took charge. He exposed them for who they are and with careful step by step analysis in the power of the holy spirit, showed the Corinthian Christians the emptiness of their boast and the foolishness of their choice of teachers.  He regained not only trust but also authority over the church he has laboured to plant for Jesus.

It is very important that we note this. Jesus warned that anyone who would make any of these little ones to sin, it were better they had a large stone tied around them and thrown into the sea, than to commit such error. He wouldn't give the religious church leaders of his days any chance to deceive the young flock. He fought earnestly over them to ensure they were rooted. Paul did the same. Passion for souls should keep us on our feet. We must endeavour to follow up those that have come to Christ through us; strengthening and admonishing them till Christ is fully formed in them and his cross on their hearts.

Having cleared the air, Paul continued to hammer on repentance from sin and dead works. He announces his intention to visit the third time to perfect every witness and make it complete. He wouldn't spare anyone who was still sinning. He warns them to clean up the house before he gets there. Let everyone examine himself to ensure they were still in the faith. We must make this a habit. We must make daily honest effort to ask the Lord where we are not doing well. Not that we're looking to condemn ourselves but to present ourselves humbly to him for correction and building up.

"Become complete. "Be of good comfort, be of one mind, live in peace and the God of love and peace will be with you" (verse 11). This is the message the holy spirit is leaving with us today.  As we come to the conclusion of this series of lessons. This website, right here, is important to God. He recognises it as a distinct body of Christ. Do your best to be complete in Jesus as you fellowship in the word here daily. Don't allow any part of your Christian life to remain in shambles. Aspire to grow to perfection in Jesus. Then let your love and commitment compel you to seek for peace within here and without, in humility, defer to one another. The God of peace who is a rewarder will surely visit you through our saviour Jesus Christ. Amen.
