AWAKE THE DAWN WITH CECE WINANS: "Mercy Said No"

"Mercy said no" is one of my favourite songs. I didn't get to listen to the song until 2008, after about five years of its release in 2003. When I eventually got to hear it, I was hooked.  I could remember playing the song every other morning  back then until I memorized every line. The lyrics described me so much.

As a child I was drawn to God. Even though my parents weren't so religious. I found myself always in the church. I was so delighted with "God things" that i began to devote much of my time to church activities. I loved to pray and study the scriptures. It became a pattern for me during my teen years. There was always questions on my mind about who God is and how he came to exist.  But, I couldn't find answers because there really wasn't anyone who understood my deep yearning for God. I felt his pull but never understood it all...it would be a long time before Jesus would draw me ever closer, reveal himself to me and "steal my heart away"...before this time, the world pulled me in its sway, I drifted with it for a moment  but Jesus' great mercy wouldn't have me remain a sinner for long. Through various life trials he drew me and opened my eyes to receive all the answers I had ever sought for....

Mercy said no, captured my chequered journey with Jesus and the powerful power of his wondrous mercy to every sinner. I urge you therefore beloved to come to Christ as you are. All he needs is a "yes" from you. He is ever ready to work with you and through you  bring forth the praises of his will upon the earth. Let us join Cece Winans to sing of his Boundless love and mercy which will not let us remain victims of Satan forever.

Jesus, I can never forget how your mercy found me, picked me, cleansed me, instructed me, delivered me and elevated me...the same promise I always made you, I repeat today; nothing shall come in between us ever again. I love you everyday. Thank you for dying for me.

Lyrics
I was just a child, when I felt the Savior leading
I was drawn to what I could not understand
And for the cause of Christ, I have spent my days believing
That what He'd have me be, is who I am

As I've come to see the weaker side of me
I realize His grace is what I'll need
When sin demanded justice for my soul

Mercy said no
I'm not gonna let you go
I'm not gonna let you slip away
You don't have to be afraid
Mercy said no
Sin will never take control
Life and death stood face to face
Darkness tried to steal my heart away
Thank You Jesus, Mercy said no

For God so loved the world, that He sent His son to save us
From the cross He built a bridge to set us free
Oh, but deep within our hearts, there is still a war that rages
And makes a sacrifice so hard to see

As midnight fell on crucifixion day
The light of hope seemed oh so far away
As evil tried to stop redemption's flow

Mercy said no
I'm not gonna let you go
I'm not gonna let you slip away
You don't have to be afraid
Mercy said no
Sin will never take control
Life and death stood face to face
Darkness tried to steal my heart away
Thank You Jesus, Mercy said no

And now when heaven looks at me
It's through the blood of Jesus
Reminding me of one day long ago

Mercy said no
I'm not gonna let you go
I'm not gonna let you slip away
You don't have to be afraid
Mercy said no
Sin will never take control
Life and death stood face to face
Darkness tried to steal my heart away
Thank You Jesus, Mercy said no
