VERSE OF THE DAY FOR AUGUST 27, 2020

 

Today's verse is taken from Lamentations 3:22-23

It is of the Lord's mercy that we are not consumed because his compassion fail not, they are new every morning. Great is your faithfulness. 

Thoughts on today's verse

The verse reminds me of God's great loving kindness and mercy. He is an ever flowing stream. On our own power we faint and falter but  God's love sustains us. He energizes and replenishes us daily. His compassionate care surrounds us. We can rest in his assurance. It is because of his mercy that I am not consumed, destroyed and overwhelmed by my daily worries and challenges. His ever loving tender care does not fail. He is always compassionate, constant in understanding and emphatic towards me because he had been in my place. He knows all my frailty and so he cares for me. His compassion is a fresh spring; new every morning. It is never stale. He meets every situation and every new challenge headlong. I do not need to rely on yesterday's victories or mercies or compassions, there is an ever ready supply for every new day. And O! What a great faithfulness. He never fails. He never gets weary, he never stumbles. He is a stronghold an anchor and a bulwark. I can rest assured in his presence through and through. There is No shadow of turning with him.

PRAYER: Faithful God when I remember what you have done in the past, I become more encouraged that no matter what the future may bring, you will be there for me. Thank you for being so constant and trustworthy. Grant us the grace to jettison our worries and put our trust completely in you, through Christ Jesus, Amen!
