VERSE OF THE DAY FOR AUGUST 25, 2020

Today's bible verse for memorization and meditation is 1Corinthians 16:13-14.  

"Be watchful, stand firm in the faith, act like men, be strong, let all you do be done in love"

 

The Message Bible renders it this way; "keep your eyes open, hold tight to your convictions give it all you've got, be resolute and love without stopping".

Thoughts on Today's Verse

The holy spirit is bringing us a challenge today. He urges us to be watchful. This means to be alert in the spirit. We can't afford to leave things to chance. We must watch over our spiritual lives, our families, ministries and guard them  jealously to ensure that nothing trips us or takes us unawares. Standing firm requires that we remain steadfast and not unstable holding forth the faith delivered to us. When we act like men we are responsible and brave, strong and dependable. The call to serve God is not child's play. It requires maturity and integrity. Strength denotes courage. We must courageously forge ahead no matter what. Occupying like people who are aware of what is to come. Above all love shows strength, watchfulness and responsibility. It ties everything together. Nothing done outside the premise of love is of any eternal value in God's sight, for by this shall the children of God be known, if we walk in love, unfortunately, many  do things for show and to please the flesh but God demands that we do all for the sake of love.

PRAYER: Father, you have blessed us with your holy presence through your son Jesus. Grant that we would walk where he walked and do what he does. To show his strength, focus and loyalty all joined together in love to our neighbours friends and family as we continue in this journey of faith. In Jesus name we prayed. Amen!
