VERSE OF THE DAY FOR AUGUST 21, 2020

Today's Verse for meditation and memorization is Isaiah 55:1-2

"

Ho! Everyone who thirsts, come to the waters and you who have no money, come, buy and eat, yes, come, buy wine and milk without money and without price. Why do you spend money for what is not bread and your wages for what does not satisfy? Listen carefully to me, and eat what is good and let your soul delight itself in abundance"

Thoughts on Today's Verse:

Today's verse is called the great invitation. The holy spirit is calling out to the thirsty, the poor, the needy, the destitute, the frustrated, the unfulfilled, the unsatisfied and the self confident. He calls us to come to God who has everything we need for nourishment, refreshment and growth. "Water is life" they say. One may be able to bear hunger for a given length of time but dehydration kills very fast. Jesus is this living water that Isaiah was referring to in this text. In John 7:37  on the last day of that great feast Jesus stood up and made this invitation again; Inviting all and sundry to come to him. If you are broken, dehydrated and fed up with life and yourself, the man of calvary who made all payments for you says you shouldn't stay in want anymore, come and receive all that you need for life and sustenance from him today free of charge. Or maybe, you are still pushing, and making little progress. You're still excelling and the future is looking bright. You still see a lot of opportunities to explore? You are confident because you still have some little sources of sustenance?  He also calls you. Come and buy real wine, do not spend your money on what does not satisfy. There is no satisfaction  in life anywhere in this world except in having a relationship with God. Those toys you are chasing around in form of new gadgets, cars, houses, business, women, men, education and so on, without Christ, they leave you empty, frustrated and hollow. Accept the invitation today. Come to the giver of life and all good things and experience life in fullness.

PRAYER: Father your love is unquantifiable. Despite our shortcomings and unfaithfulness you still offer us life without cost. May you draw all men to your son Jesus through whom you have made this possible. Let all men loose their taste for things that do not satisfy and seek the real life that is only possible in Jesus Christ. Thank you for hearing us. In JESUS name. Amen!
