DAILY GUIDE REVIEW: CAUSE AND EFFECT OF POLITICAL CRISES

 Text: 2Samuel:15:19-37

The scenario described in this bible passage is what anyone would have done when found in such a situation. David would never have imagined that a child from his own loins would become a deadly enemy seeking his life and his throne. No wonder God regretted making man. In Genesis chapter 8, he regretted that he made man because every thought of his heart was continually evil.

This man  Absalom, having eliminated Amnon his eldest brother, probably feels that he is the most qualified to ascend the throne. And he would seek it through all sorts of devilish and illegal means; conspiracies, lying, conniving, cajoling, deception and murder. A man who has no regard for God can go to any extent in the pursuit of worldly goods and esteem. He does not consider family relationships. This is also why ritualists are no man's brother. Unfortunately, these kinds of politicians are what we have today especially in third world countries.

Another worrisome trend is seen in churches today. Scheming and conspiracies have also become the order. In appointment of bishops and posting of clergies a lot of bribery and corruption go on in the midst of men of God and related church workers. Even some disgruntled battles are taken to law courts where unbelievers sit in judgement.

Praying and placing our lives and deliverance in God's hands is a must for every believer in the face of such calamity. David must be commended for putting his political prowres at work by mobilizing his closest and trusted allies, but most importantly trusting Jehovah for rescue.

Our world is increasingly immersed in evil. A trusted family member or friend all too often,  suddenly becomes a traitor. There is fear on every side. We must not relent at such times but rather see it as an opportune time to run to God, trusting that he knows the best and also the best way to keep us safe.

Thank you father for your sure deliverance to  all who repose faith in you.  May you keep us safe from the evil imaginations of the enemy continually, Amen!
