AWAKE THE DAWN (With Pastor U Obed): "Be Thou Exalted"
This morning I invite you to sing along with Pastor U Obed from Psalms 57:1-6. Pastor Obed is the first General pastor of faith Tabernacle Church Ibadan Nigeria. He composed this song Be thou exalted O lord in the year 1978. Today, the song is a common worship song in every home and in every church.
A look at Psalm 57, gives us a glimpse into the heart of King David when he composed this Psalm. Everything around him at that time was speaking in the negative for him, but he forced himself to look beyond these things and rather magnify God. There were afflictions on every side but David choose to exalt the name of the lord instead.
Read verse 1-5:
1. Be merciful unto me, O God, be merciful unto me: for my soul trusts in you and in the shadow of your wings I will make my refuge, until these calamities have passed by
2. I will cry out to God most high. To God who performs all things for me.
3.He shall send from heaven and save me. He reproaches the one who would swallow me up. God shall send forth his mercy and his truth.
4.My soul is among lions. I lie among the sons of men who are set on fire whose teeth are spears and arrows and their tongues a sharp sword.
5. Be exalted, O God above all the heavens; let your glory be above all the earth.
This also is what God wants each and everyone of us to do. He's promised that when we pass through fire he will be with us, that the waters will not swallow us (Isaiah 46). He says even though the mountains will walk away and the earth be removed, yet, his eternal love will never be taken from us.
Why don't you look up! Look up to him who has given you all these wondrous promises for he is able to fix your case also, no matter how difficult they might seem. He is indeed the impossibility specialist. And yea lord, with hands lifted up, in spite of whatever may be going wrong in our lives; we'll sing:
BE THOU EXALTED O LORD ABOVE ALL THE HEAVENS AND LET THY GLORY BE ABOVE ALL THE EARTH, AMEN! AMEN!! AMEN!!!
Very simple song...but spirit filled. I'm really blessed this morning.
