DAILY GUIDE DEVOTIONAL: SEEK WISDOM AND LIVE

Text: Proverbs 8:1-21

Proverbs 4:7
Wisdom is the principal thing, therefore, get wisdom, and in all thy getting, get understanding.

A look at the text before us describes  all the attributes of Christ. Wisdom is Christ personified. In verse 1-2 wisdom cries out and understanding lifts her voice. She takes her stand on the top of the hill, beside the way, where the paths meet. She says to receive instruction and not silver and knowledge rather than gold (verse 10) For wisdom is better than rubies and all the things one may desire cannot be compared with her.(verse 11)

Every man who has come to Jesus and have accepted him as lord and master, knows this to be true. Salvation which Christ gives to a man is more treasurable than any other thing in this life. A majority of the world's populations only seek after wealth and material acquisition through all sorts of wrong means. Many have traded their soul, killed and maimed others just to acquire wealth. But Salvation enables us to fear the lord and fearing the lord simply means to hate evil (verse 13) When we hate evil we are kept safe and we have perfect peace. This sense of equilibrium and balance that the lord gives to all that are his, helps them to go through life without the mindless pursuit of worldly wealth that characterise the world. For riches and honour are with the lord, enduring riches and righteousness (verse 17)

Some people attribute wisdom to shrewdness, mischief and worldly manipulations. Unfortunately, many who have come to Christ still find it hard to jettison worldly wisdom and fully embrace the wisdom of Christ. In the book of James 3:17 we are told that the wisdom that comes from heaven is first of all  pure, peace loving, considerate, submissive, full of mercy and good fruits, impartial and sincere

What more? Verse 17 calls us to seek the lord. It says I love those who love me and those who seek me diligently will find me. Mark the word 'DILIGENTLY' the lord requires constancy in seeking him. You do not do it when you like. You have to seek him everyday, regularly...until  he becomes everything you ever know.
