LIVING FOR ETERNITY WITH GBILE AKANNI: Understanding Eternity

Many people think of eternity as something so far away and so remote that they go through their lives day after day not taking any thought about it. 

Others imagine that it is when they arrive at the shores of eternity that they will decide what to do there. Eternity is just a step away.  You must note that: 

Your choices on earth are what determine your placement in eternity.

The concept of eternity is clearly written all through the bible. Yet for majority of believers, the word is still vague. Until a man understands the meaning of eternity, he will not be able to prepare for it properly. 

No one is more qualified to give a correct understanding of eternity than the lord Jesus himself. Here is a brief illustration from him of what eternity is

Mark9:43-48 (NASV)

If your hand causes you to stumble, cut it off. It is better for you to enter life crippled, than, having your two hands to go into hell, into the unquenchable fire, where their worm does not die and the fire is not quenched

If your foot causes you to stumble, cut it off, it is better to enter into life lame than having your two feet tone cast into hell where their worm does not die and the fire is not quenched.

If your eye causes you to stumble, throw it out; it is better for you to enter the kingdom of God with one eye,than having two eyes, to be cast into hell where their worm does not die and the fire is not quenched.

 

This is not a parable. It is a mysterious reality which shows that nothing in this world is eternal but in eternity there is total permanence. No change, no improvement,  no depreciation!
